Wish list for WV radio

Which stations would you like to see change their format this year? Which changes would you prefer? In short, let's start a 'wish list' for WV radio.

I'll start...
a). No 'amphibian' radio...listening to country shouldn't make one feel he or she is losing valuable brain cells. ;D
b). At least one station in a market with most airshifts actually 'live' in case of emergencies. Otherwise, use existing technology to 'break in' as needed for road closures due to accidents, floods and other events. The 'go-to' person could get info off Facebook, or have county emergency officers give this person the information.
c). Americana/ classic country given a chance
d). WOVK calls in Wheeling changed to "WWVA-FM"
e). "Wheeling Jamboree" aired on said FM
f). Donation of struggling low-power AM's to community groups or schools. Those donating would receive huge tax breaks, and could help mentor the new owners. I know utility bills might send those groups screaming into the night, but anyone wanting to do the LPFM route could be given this info up front. Anyway, IF the owner willingly surrenders his/her license, they should get a huge break.

I know some of these may seem naive, but I'm a simple guy. Obviously, many changes could be proffered here. Any takers?

I'd rather do this in my home market of Pittsburgh, but I like where you're going ...

So true.

b). At least one station in a market with most airshifts actually 'live' in case of emergencies. Very logical.

c). Americana/ classic country given a chance
Given what stations I've heard doing this around the country, why not?

d). WOVK calls in Wheeling changed to "WWVA-FM"
e). "Wheeling Jamboree" aired on said FM

Amen on both counts, but Clear Channel uses WWVA-FM in Atlanta.

f). Donation of struggling low-power AM's to community groups or schools. Those donating would receive huge tax breaks, and could help mentor the new owners. This is one where I might take issue, simply because the death of one Pittsburgh market station, WZUM, was preceded by what for all intents and purposes was a donation, by Sovereign City to a Virginia broadcaster.

I don't believe you're naive. I think you have some solid suggestions.

Although I live in Florida now and used to live in Ohio, I enjoyed the old WWVA local talk shows that I guess are on AM1600(sorry, I don't remember the call latters) now. If I had all the money in the world, I would give some to AM1600, have them buy WWVA and have them switch their formats so more people can hear again what great people they had.

The man that owns AM1600 is a multi-millionaire attorney who once sued the NFL and WON. Allegedly he works only when he wants to, and has befriended a local attorney to get him established.

I don't know why he doesn't buy an FM, say the old WOMP-FM (don't remember its calls either, but it's a "BOB" or "JACK"). I don't know how Clear Channel is doing in Wheeling; perhaps he could buy a couple of those. What I REALLY want him to do is buy WTRF-TV, but this is a radio board, so I'll leave it at that.
