I talked to CBS today and they still haven't recieved my package. Damn Postal Service!

Nick, Nick, Nick...on something like this, you have to overnight the stuff to them. Costs more, but it conveys your enthusiasm. It's an investment.

By the way, I was messin' around on MySpace last night and put a rough aircheck up on my page. Follow this link if you guys would like to take a listen. It's a little rough but it gives you a good idea of how I sound. Don't be to hard on me ;)

Excellent aircheck Nick. You sound very good and would be a great addition to the B in my opinion. Has CBS received your package yet?

I called this morning and left a voicemail..... so we'll see....

Nick-

Heard your aircheck. Sounded really good except your first item out of the box, you're READING a liner card, and screw up. You should've edited that.

Otherwise, you sound like B material.

Good luck!

Raymond

I found out that Keith is in Nashville until the end of the week so I'm sure I won't hear anything this week. I have had several employee's from CBS Radio in Pitt contact me and tell me that they're very very very slow when it comes to hiring. I will be patient and keep my fingers crossed.

Keith has a hard enough time deciding what to do for lunch yet alone hiring someone. Stay after him, but realize that he's never in a hurry to do anything, let alone anything well.

Keith was out of town last week and they had the day off yesterday. So I am hoping for something this week. If not, I thank you all for your help and support. I won't give up getting into the market so I'm sure you'll hear me sooner or later.

Your welcome Nick. I wish you the best of luck with whatever happens. Never give up hope!!!!

Ditto!

you've got good pipes but you're not major market material yet. use more cheesy sfx and more cheesy cliches and you'll never get there. it's just average. and you can think i'm flaming you but these are things you need to hear.

I don't take it as flaming. At least I hope you're not flaming (Ha.. play on words) I was brought up in radio in a major market and have done major market radio for 3 years in Cincinnati before I moved to Charleston. I was on a couple power houses in Cincy including Warm 98 and Q102. So I know what it takes to be major market material. Now that's not to say I don't appreciate your input and I won't consider it. I do thank you for your input and I am more than happy to take constructive criticism.

whatever dude. once you think you've "arrived" just because you've worked in a top 30 market, you might as well go find another line of work. there are some real crappy jocks in the markets you mentioned- some of them couldn't get a gig in a really great station in market 200. the reality is that the best talent aren't in the biggest markets for a number of reasons.

Nick has a decent demo (there are things on it I wouldn't have had on, but it's done and out there), and he's certainly has the drive to go after a position. (for all of those who posted about him having "great pipes, Homeo, sorry, that's not what radio is about) He's a radio geek and that will help him in his quest. Another big thing that will help get Nick a job or stay employed in the business is to not be a "broadcaster", instead be a friend of the listener (but with certain authority) by having fun.

Nick, if I were you, I would also email your demo to Keith Clark, even though you sent him a package.

Homeo, I think Nick may have posted his being on a top 30 station somewhere along this thread to counter an attack that someone may have sent his way. I see a maturity in Nick's posts that also shows he'd be someone who I would hire. He doensn't attack. Hope there's someone reading this board who has the authority to hire you Nick. Once again, good luck.

Why attack ppl? I understand that some members of these forums aren't exactly Professional. I am not going to contribute to their negativity. I know that I am not the best thing to happen radio since sliced bread. I also know that I have to learn as much as I can everyday I turn on that mic. And correct me if I am wrong, but we're not living in 1976 radio anymore where "pipes" matter. Of course you need to a have decent speaking voice but you don't have to have the voice of God anymore to work and be successful in radio. I focus on being creative, conversational, and topical. Phoners are a major part of my show and I think should be in any CHR show.

Raymond, thank you for your compliments and I hope to be seeing you all soon.

By the way, what a disgrace the Steelers were last night. I haven't been that mad and disappointed in them in a long time.

On a side note, amen to the Steelers loss Nick. I am a diehard fan and never expected them to lose to the Jets. On a radio note, keep on pluggin away. I think you would be great for the B 94 afternoon shift.

Thanks Todd!

So being the Radio nerd that I am.... I airchecked a couple breaks yesterday. Plz take a listen and tell me what you all think. Now let's be professionals. I can stand to have my chops busted as long as it's in a professional manner. Any feed back would be great!
