Wish Stern would comeback to radio!

A more accurate headline would be: "Wish Stern would come back to free radio!"

Of course, free terrestrial radio - in particular, the FCC and few religious right activists filing complaints - would not let Howard be Howard.

That said, part of the problem is Howard's ego. He did his best work at WNBC, when he was kept on a leash. When he went into national syndication and became King of All Media, he was out control - and a gratuitous potty mouth. He lacks the self-discipline to control himself or to submit to a good programmer.

You say the self-professed "King Of All Media" who got millions of fans to become millions of $upporter$ and was a major driving force in advancing an industry is supposed...

He does? How is it that NBC has put him on America's Got Talent? They haven't bleeped him yet.

I never understood the attraction to Stern's show. I remember listening to him on 92.3 about 10 years ago and every day was the same old thing, complaining about the FCC and pretty much everything else. There was nothing even remotely entertaining about his whining rants.

You can argue all day over whether he's good or bad. Some love him and some hate him. It's personal taste.

You can't argue over his career accomplishments. There's nobody in radio who has come even remotely close to his level of success.

Oh, let's see....

Arthur Godfrey
Larry King
Rush Limbaugh
Don Imus
Paul Harvey

I would leave Larry King off that list. The guy did over-overnights. He was on a low-rated TV show for years.

If anyone should be on the list for overnight radio, it's Art Bell, not Larry King.

Paul Harvey was a household name to everybody of all ages. I'll put him in that league. Rush pioneered syndicated political radio. Arthur Godfrey, yes.

Imus? I guess back in his day, but he hasn't been relevant for about 15 years or more now.

Larry King did overnight before Art Bell and pioneered nationally syndicated overnight as a viable business model. Of course, Godfrey did overnight before anybody else.
