WIST----------FM?

While driving back home from Chalmette last night my radio in the truck was channel surfing. It landed on 104.9 where fox sports radio was on. Later was Identified as WIST. I remember a post a while back that Michael Costello was trying to get a translater in the New Orleans area. Aparently after some research he purchased K285FF-FM 104.9 from Radio Assist Ministry and is rebroadcasting The Mighty 690 on it.

Purchase price 135K..I don't believe Mike owns the AM.I think he was exploring a booster application for his FM..But,that was a good move for the Mighty 690...

Can someone explain why you would pay $135k for a translator which only helps in a small area when you still haven't finished rebuilding after Katrina and are running on reduced power? That's 3 months of revenue for something that doesn't add any incremental value. It's barely listenable at times in Metairie and unlistenable the majority of the time.
