With Autry gone, what next for KYNO

Has there been any announcement as to what's replacing Autry when his show ends? Just caught it this morning that the experiment is over.

What's next? Well, power down the station and lock the door comes to mind. Can't get much lower in the ratings...oh wait...yes it can...but 28 to 31 isn't much of a drop.

Yes you can get lower, look at 105.5 The Truth, It doesn't make the ratings at all.

As I read this thread I wind up just shaking my head and saying "Too bad." John could be an innovator with KYNO if he wanted to be. He's a local owner, knows the market inside and out and used to be pretty creative with his advertising, so I know he is more than capable. K-Jewel has been succesful so I don't understand the unwillingness to stir things up. Maybe the passion's not there anymore.

Then again, I only hear Fresno radio a couple of times a year anymore and the whole market makes me just shake my head and say "Too bad."

Happy holidays to all of you still making a go of it in that big beautiful valley you call home.

KYNO 940 is so so so boring.....shake thing's up already. Is this a radio station or just an owner's trophy station and call letters? mmmm?

Hmm... I've got to admit though, the recent "tune-up" (sounds more like a NEW transmitter etc.) sounds good to me. Better modulation peeks, the low-end distortion has disappeared & the upper end is more distinct. Much louder. Comparable with that "other" 50kw AM'er in town. I can now hear what Imus is mumbling about, somewhat. Locally, those SM-7s sound cleaner too. - Just a positive observation. (For a change!)

I will check it out next time I am driving thru Bakersfield. The signal used to drop off when I hit Bakersfield and almost disappear entirely by the time I hit the Grapevine.

I was in Sacramento Friday night and 940 KYNO was much louder. Just as loud as their AM competitor with the three call letters. GOOD JOB, KYNO!

Wow, so sorry. Just relating to the technical (received audio characteristics, comparable perceived loudness & coverage) aspect of the KYNO facility.

The programming, ratings & public or otherwise perception, is another subject.

Being able to be heard, and making the primary "improvement" technically, is just part of doing business competitively.

Sounds like a NEW facility to me. At least it got my attention.

Kudos to John & crew, I'm impressed,

Why doesn't KYNO trying changing their lineup a bit. Like adding Neal Boortz to their morning lineup. He was on 840 KMPH awhile ago.
