In the five years since the Bay Area Radio Museum began, I've only asked to pass the hat once; I rarely wear a hat, which might be the main reason for this. The other reason is that I have previously been able to reach into my own wallet for whatever funds we've needed, along with the kind assistance of a few very generous benefactors.
Today, however, I need a little help. We have been given the opportunity to acquire a collection of items from a private source -- the items are key to the history of Bay Area broadcasting, and if they fall into the hands of another private collector, chances are that they will never be seen again.
We have until 4 PM today (March 11) to come up with about $500 in funding to acquire this collection; otherwise, it will end up being listed on Ebay, where it will go for a substantially higher price. (I know this for a fact: we paid $150 last year for just one of the same items found in this collection.)
The seller is not holding the collection hostage. I heard about its availability and contacted him before he placed it up for auction, and he allowed us a little time to obtain funding. He wouldn't donate it because of his financial situation, which I understand, and I cannot come up with all of the funds myself (for pretty much the same reason).
If you can contribute $20 (or possibly more) toward this, please visit:

(Your donation is, of course, tax-deductible.)
Thank you very much for your generosity!
