With oldies back, Holly Levis better not defect from WALK!!

It's great that oldies are coming back to New York but WALK weekend personality Holly Levis better not be a part of it. Levis is a great DJ and she's been seamlessly integrated into WALK. Just last week she spent an entire week subbing for a vacationing KT Mills on afternoon drive. She's great doing Saturday afternoons and Sunday mid-days. It would be awful if Levis walks away from WALK. It made sense for Bob Shannon to ditch the Breeze where he had only been doing weekends for a couple of months to return to the station where he made his name for a full-time gig. Holly on the other hand has been at WALK since Christmas. In that time she's subbed for Scott Miller, Al Lewis, and KT Mills. What I fear is that despite being fully embraced on weekends and chief sub, that the CBS honchos might offer her the 7-midnight evening slot on CBSFM Monday-Fridays. If that occurs I hope Holly shows loyalty to WALK and rejects it.

I don't see Holly as part of the new CBS-FM. Although she was there for the last couple of years of the Golden 101 and stayed on as Music Director with Jack, I always felt she sounded out of place and think she's better suited to an AC or smooth Jazz format.

CBS Radio will not offer her any job in New York. If she tries to leave WALK-FM, Clear Channel will enforce a non-compete clause in her contract.

Also, the new CBS-FM may very well be jockless or voice-tracked after 7 PM.

In 1972-73 CBS-FM was jockless after 2 AM Saturday nights. It seemed like they played Diana Ross's "Aint No Mountain High" alternating with CBS's "This is Spectrum... 7 Viewpoints on today's topics..." all night long.

We got past it & CBS-FM Flourished. They can't bring back all that expensive Legendary on air Talent, and give us "Oldies", and still see the kind of profit they want to see. They will have to get by with Big Talent where they HAVE to have it, & save money where they can.
Eventually, they should try to have talent 'till 2AM, & if they have to, go Jockless after that. Its not what we want, but todays realities have to sink in.

Holly Levis was NEVER, EVER right for CBS-FM. When she was hired, I knew the end was somewhere over the next few hills.

Mickey Dolenz? What WERE they smoking?

I agree that she's a good fit for WALK, and I am looking forward to CBS's rebirth. But IMHO, this is like telling a baseball player "You've been so good off the bench for the Ducks, how DARE you talk to the Mets or Yankees." Anyway, I certainly wouldn't blame her, especially if CBS offered her some freedom on the air. Did it upset you when John Williams, Paco or Rick Martini left?

I don't think they'll go jockless in the PM hours. Maybe from 2-6 AM. Word I'm hearing is that former PLJ & Lite FM jock JJ Kennedy will do the 7-Midnight shift.

Joe Causi, whose background is in disco, was hired for nights.

J.J. Kennedy has an A/C background and will not go anywhere near an oldies format.
