Without warning , KTRK changes weekend anchors

I don't know if this is a permanent move or not, But Samica Knight is in, and Katie McCall is out as Elissa Rivas' co-anchor for its weekend newscasts. Sam didn't mention anything about Katie but McCall is still working over at ABC-13. So, I was wondering if it's true?

I'm not sure about the title for this thread, but I'll bite. Samika has indeed taken over the weekend morning chair from Katie McCall. Why you weren't warned....I'm not sure. :D

He seems to be implying that KTRK bosses didn't contact him first before making the change.

Note to Troy: broadcast stations are not required to publicize their personnel changes before or after the fact. Nor are the new anchors required to make mention of the person he or she is replacing.

@purpledevil @filoscotia: Thanks for clarifying the info. Katie feels like she needs to just move on and do some other things for 13.

TV stations almost never publicize anchor chair changes in advance. At least I don't remember ever seeing a station do it. They only send out a news release announcing it after the fact.

Well, sometimes you now find out on Facebook or Twitter...if someone posts it. Remember Gene Norman's tweet about "blondie"?

Gene Norman went public on his personal Facebook page. The station didn't do it.

Even so, it was a tacky and childish thing to do. And unprofessional.

Something tells me KHOU is glad he's gone.

Did I claim that the station did it? NO!

In Phoenix, it seems that the personalities post about staffing changes themselves, which I find terribly unprofessional. However, how are they supposed to answer posts which ask about staff that have left, been moved off the anchor desk, or whatever?

My apologies. I didn't mean to imply that you said the station did it.

It's true that many TV people put "inside" station info on Facebook, which is outrageously unprofessional.

As for how to answer people who post questions about on-air changes, whatever happened to just saying "I don't know"? And where is it written that you even have to answer questions like that? They really don't have to answer them, and that's the best way to deal with them.

What?? You mean they didn't tell you? I think we all got the memo... right guys? Can't imagine your confusion when they rolled the opening titles.. :p :D I keed I keed
