When most AMs are fighting for life or migrating to FM, this 1KW station is going to 12KW (daytime). Good for them. For all the old timers, like me, this is the old 3WB.

This station already has a good coverage area for a 1KW. They have a decent signal here, and they're 40+ miles away. I am also looking forward to this power upgrade. It'll be nice to have some more country on AM to choose from between WSM, WSLV, and WRAB.

I still wish Mr. Jimmie Dale Burgess would flip Cullman's 1340 WFMH from talk to Country. :D

I listen to WIXI every once in a while in the car. It's a neat little station. I have to go a little further north, though, from where I am in south Shelby county in order to hear the station, with WBYE in Calera being on the adjacent frequency. It's good to hear the station is doing well. I remember back in the late 80's the station was known as WZPQ and was wasting away, being nothing more than a simulcast (or trimulcast?) of then-WZBQ "Z-102". YEA for WIXI!

btw, I just found the website for WIXI...didn't know they had one. You can listen online, too. Here's the link to the stream:
