WIXV 95.5 I-95 Playlist

Does anyone have any information on the last time WIXV has updated their playlist? I know they occasionally play a modern song but I'm talking about the classic rock portion of their format. Seems they play some of the same songs from the same artist and I don't remember a change in over 10 years.

I recall them playing a 50/50 of classic/new rock back during the days of Z102 in attempt to compete. Then towards the late 90's, they skewed classic rock and went pretty deep. This was back when Jeff Taylor was on the air.

Perhaps it was 2000, can't recall, but it was that point they went more AOR playing mostly classic rock (hits only) and a few modern bands (very limited).

Has there been a change in the playlist since 2000?

They tweaked it about 4 years ago. When I first moved to Savannah, they had a bit more lighter post 1990's rock on there, stuff they were calling "future classics" on many stations...some REM, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam that they'd play numerous times an hour. (WAXQ in New York did this too somewhat despite being a classic rock station).

Now most of that stuff has been dropped. However, like most classic (or classic-leaning AOR's) rock stations, their playlist is largely limited to about 3-400 "gold" titles.

The problem is when I hear "Statesboro Blues", my mind thinks pretty much right away "I'm listening to I-95!"

Their playlist is limited, and it tends to lean towards the "light" side of classic rock. Even the 90's-00's recurrents & new tracks they play (maybe 2 an hour combined) tend to be "soft" (Nickelback, Daughtry, etc). But this is what plays well in the sticks. 105.3's similar playist reinforces 95's, and 106.1 doesn't hit the big outlying areas (Hinesville, Statesboro) to create any worry. It's a case of "why fix what isn't broke".
