WJAM History in Marion, Alabama 1970's

It's great to see this active message board. Kudos to the admins.

I worked at WJAM-AM in Marion, Alabama around 1977-1978. We were a 5-thousand watt daytimer. The only name I can remember from that time was Program Director - Nathan Jones (can't recall his real name).

All the "history" I see online only covers the details of the changes around the time of the Alexander/Scott transactions.

Does anyone have details on the owner of WJAM-AM back in the 1960's and 1970's?

I've got a little bit of pre-Alexander history on the station on my site's profile page for WJAM, but it's admittedly thin because it seems the license was deleted, and FCC records don't have what happened prior to the late 70's.

I had forgotten the calls were on 1310, since it's now WJUS. I do have a page for that as well but the Wikipedia article that Dan linked to seems to have more information.

My parents were in school in Marion during the mid to late 1950's (Mom, of course, at Judson, and Dad at Marion Institute). Neither of them spoke glowingly of the station. I remember Mom saying that she and her friends listened to stations from Birmingham during the day and the 50kw clear-channel stations such as KMOX and WWL at night.
