Christopher Lanni has been promoted to news director at WJAR/Providence. Lanni had been with the station for five years, assuming such roles as assistant news director and, more recently, something called "content brand manager".

Of course. I totally agree. But it doesn't mean that WJAR can't put it's best foot forward. A scaled down version of what WNBC did would be acceptable.

WJAR 5pm news has been doing some cross-pomotion with WPRO. Unfortunately the talker they have on is John DiPetro who blamed the defacing of a Columbus statue on anti-Italian prejudice.
Always looking for a sympathy angle DiPetro didn't want to accept that maybe it was prank-vandalism.
