>>Definately sad news. But does anyone find this headline from nbc10wjar.com odd:
"NBC 10's Doug White Passes Away
Longtime WJAR Anchorman Succumbs To Cancer

Maybe they were keeping the extent of his cancer hush hush over there.<<
Sad but true, but it is a common occurance for many stations and newspapers to "pre-need" an obituary (for the lack of a better term). I'm sure that Doug's advanced cancer situation was well known by his colleagues at WJAR-TV, but they respected his wishes and keep it "close to the vest". And I'm sure it was painful for them trying to get some sign of "normalcy" in the newsroom, knowing full well that their colleague was suffering from a terminal illness. I'm sure it was no surprise, for them, that it was going to eventually happen. All that said, it doesn't make it any less sad or painful for his fellow colleagues, his family, friends and his loyal viewers. My thoughts and prayers go to Doug's family. He will be missed.
