You pay for death notices in papers (as opposed to obits which are free) so why not on TV. Does seem a bit out of place, though I don't know why

Landtuna, it's the so-called "lifestyle" shows full of paid segments by denture specialists, retirement savings experts, etc.!

It's pathetic on both counts: the station and the ego-types that want this service. WJAR's dominant morning numbers come in part because they solicit birthdays (cornball), so they are going to the opposite extreme.
