WJBE 99.7 and 1040 AM has changed formats

Just noticed this but according to their Facebook, WJBE has changed from Urban AC to Mainstream Urban. They are now known as Jammin 99.7 and 1040 am and picked up Steve Harvey in the mornings. I am excited for this because there is a true hip hop station in the market now but this might hurt WKHT

There are not many comments or likes on all of the Facebook posts about the change. Just one comment so far about someone wanting Tom Joyner back. Does Knoxville even know this station exists? I doubt this will hurt WKHT. Of course Hot barely plays any hip hop at all anyway.

I've noticed the same thing, they need start including many more hip hop songs into their rotation or go back to Urban AC
I agree. When I listen on Saturday nights it sounds like a true hip hop station. Other than that it sounds to urban AC to me. That's just my opinion. BTW 99.7 has an awesome signal in Maryville where I live for 99 watts. Must be that mono.

Its translator is on Sharp's Ridge so it has good coverage for a FM translator. I've gotten as far south as Lenior City

I checked this station out today while I was in Jefferson City and the signal has gotten better as the stereo is now on. The signal faded out as soon as I got into Hamblen county but for a 99 watt translator it was pretty good. I still notice they play more R&B than hip hop though
