WJBR Gone?

This morning you can’t listen to JBR on their website, through their app, and on IHeartRadio. I wonder if they killed the signal with EJ’s departure from MGK?

Anyone able to check the 95.7 HD2 signal?

Probably. Why keep something around that is generating negligible to zero revenue? The whole idea of slapping the WJBR brand on an online stream was goofy.

This is much, much different than what took place with the KRTY brand in San Jose / San Francisco. The air talent largely stayed in place, the brand-sponsored events stayed in place, etc.

Keep in mind the reason KRTY was able to do that was because the estate of the station's owner used the money obtained from the sale of the broadcast frequency to retain the staff. Not sure how long that money will hold out. But they're definitely not making as much as they did previously.

WJBR wasn't owned by a single station owner who died and left the estate to his employees. Very different situation.

As of today, the last song played was Beat It, by MJ. Their Facebook page is still posting and the website is still online, but no streaming available. If they did cut the station, that’s disappointing as I really enjoyed the mix. Like losing 99.5 again. :(

Knowing that 95.7-HD2 was neglected from the summer of 2007 until 2023, “WJBR” could remain on 95.7-HD2 for years to come without any changes.
Club Ben used to be on 95.7-HD2 with a rhythmic CHR format. The playlist was never updated since the summer of 2007. So it played hits that were only on the charts for a few weeks and sounded like a CHR stuck in 2007 for 16 years since then.
It would be interesting to see if JBR is still on 95.7-HD2 in 2040, not playing a single song newer than 2025.
