Two people knew it existed, it seems. 🤣
Hey they advertise 95.7HD2 as the new WJBR right? Although I haven't heard this yet. so that'll be more than 2 people that at least know it exists! lolTwo people knew it existed, it seems. 🤣
I feel like a lot of the WJBR listeners (especially the ones in Wilmington and northern parts of the market) already have B101 programmed into their presets. Im a rock & roll guy 99.99% but B101 always was a good station. I remember my mom listening to it in the 1990’s a lot. I feel like this is the obvious choice for the AC fans to go when WJBR signs off. A real shame too, that stations been there forever.Even if they somehow braught it back later on some other frequency, wouldn't that be an uphill battle, especially after listeners started listening to B101?
It's likely not the norm that people have buttons set for their local market's AC and for one in an adjacent market, but the Christmas stuff probably ensured that a lot of people here have a button for 99.5 and that a lot of people down there have a button for 101.1. Most people probably don't hit the button for the "other" AC until Christmastime, and most people also don't pay attention to the goings-on in radio "news", so there will likely be a lot of disappointed Philadelphians this season. "Hey, I'm trying to hear Christmas music! What's with all this Jesus stuff?!"I feel like a lot of the WJBR listeners (especially the ones in Wilmington and northern parts of the market) already have B101 programmed into their presets. No, it's Wednesday, October 4, as previously mentioned.I'm guessing tomorrow is WJBR's last full day.
Could be. But coming from a place that doesnt have a market, its not uncommon for someones radio to have Philly, Allentown and Harrisburg stations programmed in. I know when I was still in Levittown, after WTHK went away, myself and many others listened to WCHR because we liked it better. But yea those non-radio folk will be in for a surprise when the tune WJBR in next. It's likely not the norm that people have buttons set for their local market's AC and for one in an adjacent market, but the Christmas stuff probably ensured that a lot of people here have a button for 99.5 and that a lot of people down there have a button for 101.1. I'm guessing tomorrow (Tuesday 10/3/2023) is WJBR's last full day.
Read it again, Marcos_C - Tuesday 10/3 is likely the last full day of WJBR as AC.No, it's Wednesday, October 4, as previously mentioned.
Or for Kareem Abdul Jabbar to purchase and use to play his extensive collection of jazz recordings.WJBR would be great for a sports station with lots of jabbering.
Here is something interesting 1010 WHFS Seffner FL -> WJBR (effective 9/19) Beasley owns this station.
Has any company that's put big-city calls into cold storage out in the sticks ever returned them to major-market use? I can understand the company not wanting another WJBR to start up in Philadelphia, but why would Beasley have a problem using the call in Boston?Nothing interesting about it, theyre just warehousing the calls so no one else can get them

WNEW has made a few stops along the way over the years including Palm Beach and DC IIRC only to end up back in NYC...They don't want anyone else in Wilmington or Philly to use them...so warehouse them on a station where the calls dont matter.
Im sure some calls have been ressurected but i cant think of any right now
Was WKQX housed somewhere for a bit before coming back to 87.7 and then 101.1 in Chicago when Alternative came back? They don't want anyone else in Wilmington or Philly to use them...so warehouse them on a station where the calls dont matter.

Ben FM is making them money fine as it is. No need to upset a heritage brand. (Can we call Ben FM heritage? They HAVE been around for 18 years now)Just move the WJBR Call Letters to 95.7 and call it MIX 95.7 so simple and a no brainer.
