WJBR sold to VCY???

The scenario of hearing and trying to decipher the news ran through my head earlier.

JOCK 1: [To JOCK 2, who is showing up for their airshift] Bad news. Beasley sold us.
JOCK 2: What?! To who?
JOCK 1: VCY.
JOCK 2: [Tentatively] Who are they?
JOCK 1: Religious.
JOCK 2: F***.

That assumes that a very poor market like Wilmington could afford to have two jocks!

Question: Shouldn't the EAS have sounded on WJBR? I thought it was going to be "everywhere." I'm listening (like many of us) and I didn't hear it.

EDIT: OK, it's happening right now. LOL. I guess it's a delay because I'm streaming.

I believe they had 4! Morning show was live and local... middayer Mike Rossi I believe was live (may have been considered part-time?) and afternoon jock Eric was live-ish? May have tracked if he had PD duties to take care of

That other potential buyers for a powerful signal already running a popular mainstream format would have been unable or unwilling to outbid a Godcaster for that station would terrify me, too, were I in radio. I guess the advertising depression is only getting deeper, and buyers who don't have the advantages that religious operators have feel that acquiring more stations is too risky.
It was a stand-alone outsider in a world where clusters matter. Didn’t iHeart just scoop up some stations at the Jersey shore?

Yup. All of Gary's Atlantic City/Cape May stations, including WAYV. Expect them to become more homogenized than they already are.

If anyone wants to hear the show that didnt, i had it recording at home. Im sure JH did too, hes got a bit of a cleaner signals in it but i can get it locked into stereo here in Pottsville. Let me know if youd like me to send you the file of the morning show. Ive been recording the station all week. Hoping to catch the format flip.

If my station were bought by VCY (and personally knowing VCY's programming), I would be as bitter about it as the RCTV people in Venezuela were when Chavez seized their TV station.

If I were programming WSTW, I wouldn't change a thing. They're apparently doing great, and I wouldn't risk that in an attempt to pick up a few listeners who are most likely going to bop up to 101.1 anyway.

BTW: That was a reply to a much older post in there somewhere, where it was suggested that WSTW soften up a bit because of what's happening to WJBR.

WSTW has always straddled the CHR/Hot AC line well, drifting as needed. You're right, they won't need to touch a thing to pull in a decent share of WJBR's former listeners. They won't get them all, but they should see a nice boost

So sounds to me this will be the last full day. Except Delilah probably won't get emotional since that piped in. I've been airchecking the entire thing but just now monitored the station. AC per usual.

Yes, clean signal. Recording in analog.
I recorded today from 6 AM.
Yesterday I recorded from 6 AM to 7 PM.
I've got a couple of other airshifts from August on different days to capture each show.
