WJBR sold to VCY???

Thanks, interesting. Same subchannels as before?
Nope. No subchannels (only HD1). I reached out to Maxima 104.1 (previous HD2) and they said they aren't gonna be on 99.5 HD for now. Wonder if they will try to lease a different station's subchannel. Here is the sdrconsole navigator waterfall with the times on the right.1696556401355.png

THey misspelled "Christian" on the RDS display as well. It says "Christion" on my radio.

Saw that haha.

Right now their PS is "WVCW"; Radiotext is "VCY.ORG"; PTY is "Religous Talk"; PI is "8C66" (WVCW)
Their HD is "VCY Christion Radio/VCY.ORG - 800-729-9829"

i feel bad for the people who

a.) either didnt know, but tune in, find religious music on later in the day and think its a format change but not a sale.. and then catch some of the ultra conservative islamaphobia lgbtqphobia talk on VCY

or
b.) the people who did know of the sale and format change and thought it'd be more akin to klove or other religious music stations and encounter the above ultra conservative islamaphobia lgbtqphobia talk on VCY

Then what is feeding the translator? WBEN HD3 again?
They are licensed for WJBR to feed them but right now nothing is, they are just originating their own feed.

Not having an originating hd or AM signal hasnt stopped translators before... just go to houston and check out all the translators running 2kw into a multi bay antenna higher up than they should be, originating their own programming (most translators are goign to be 1 or 2 bays, not 3 or 4 and max out at 250W)

Philly’s Favor 100.7 does the same thing. They originate their own programming and are very over powered. They are supposedly 99.5 HD3 but WJBR hasn’t had an HD3 since summer 2022.

figures. I find it interesting that what is a source of income for Beasley, via a lease, they would just let go when it could be moved to another station.

They can tune out quickly.

Running errands this morning, it sounded like WBEN-HD2's audio quality was better. (Although there were occasional drop outs of the audio... signal was fine, but the audio would occasionally cut out for a few seconds)

We saw huge audience increases in 2023 and wanted to still be there for our loyal listeners,” said station Program Director Eric Johnson. “We will continue to keep this brand, that has been loved by the community for past 66 years, going on these digital platforms. Listeners will be able to enjoy our fun, unique. feel good ‘80s to now’ mix, and during the holidays with our legendary Christmas music format!
