WJBR sold to VCY???

Beasley is in trouble when they purchased WTMR they spent 16 Million Dollars for it this is what Beasley stock is trading for 0.8328 per share.

I guarentee they didnt pay $16 for a not covering the entire market by day and certainly not doing it at night AM.. id bet that $16 million came with an FM. $16 mil for WTMR would be beyond absurd even at the height of station values

Beasley purchased WTMR as an AM only Station with no FM. There used to be a WKDN AM and FM My Father purchased WKDN AM now WTMR in 1968 and Family Radio purchased WKDN FM now WKVP in 1968.

WJBR.com IDs as WBEN-HD2 Philadephia and no longer mentions 99.5.
Did they do away with the jingles? I don't know why, but I have always liked their jingles.

EDIT: So I just heard the jingle; just without the "Mix" or "99.5."

We saw huge audience increases in 2023 and wanted to still be there for our loyal listeners,” said station Program Director Eric Johnson. “We will continue to keep this brand, that has been loved by the community for past 66 years, going on these digital platforms. Listeners will be able to enjoy our fun, unique. feel good ‘80s to now’ mix, and during the holidays with our legendary Christmas music format!
It's a shame that people don't understand that if they have HD in their car (whether they know it or not), this means they'll have a commercial-free alternative to "Philadelphia's Official Christmas Station."

EDIT: So, I Just heard "At least 56 minutes of music every hour. This is wjbr.com!" Are they actually running ads on this thing?

If they can scrape some loose change off digital ads, sure, why not. Obviously not much, but leave the door open to make a buck here and there.

So, it's a side channel as well as a side hustle. Well, if they're gonna be selling ads, I sure hope this version of 95.7 HD2 gets updated a helluva lot more frequently than the last format!

I wonder how they'll appeal to advertisers. I just can't imagine WBEN-HD2 showing up in Wilmington's ratings.

It could be regional (or national) spots that they include WJBR.com in the package sold to advertisers. Total Wine & More is an example of a radio advertiser in Philly that would potentially find WJBR.com attractive in addition to Beasley Philly stations.

As long as it's not those Boulden Brothers HVAC contractors (or whatever they are). I don't think I can sit through that ad even one more time.

1310? You mean what was at one point AC WSSJ?

mine too!

ironically enough, I worked for a religious station along the new hampshire sea coast for 6 months

The guy was a crook and hes dead now, but i digress
Funny side story, my therapist is evangelical. It was fun talking to him about my gay divorce. In all seriousness, he’s a great therapist, I’m glad I didn’t judge him based on his religious beliefs.

Philly’s Favor 100.7 does the same thing. They originate their own programming and are very over powered. They are supposedly 99.5 HD3 but WJBR hasn’t had an HD3 since summer 2022.
I’d like to see WLEV file an informal objection. W264BH could be interfering with WLEV if the translator is non directional when it should be directional. Or maybe I should file an informal objection myself. I’m 3 for 3 in getting FCC action on the informal objections I filed myself or helped someone file.
