WJBR's Christmas music playlist

Year after year, I usually end up avoiding listening to WJBR's Christmas music after a week or so of attempting to give them the benefit of the doubt and trying to do so.

This year is no exception.

With the 1,000's of Christmas songs available, why is it that I always seem to hear Band Aid's "Don't They Know its Christmas" or Elton John's "Step into Christmas" whenever I tune in? Does WJBR have a "Hot 10" Christmas rotation that they beat into the ground?

The variety of Christmas songs on B101 and 97.5 seems greater compared with what is offered on JBR.

Which Christmas songs do you notice that WJBR over plays?

Interestingly, WJBR used to have a really great variety of Christmas music that they'd air from Christmas Eve through Christmas Day, if I recall correctly, WJBR's Festival of Christmas Music. They'd feature everything from the Philadelphia Orchestra to the latest pop stars version of Christmas music. If they did that during this long pre-Christmas season, then I might tune in to 99.5 to listen as there'd be a great variety and the burn out factor would take much longer, at least for me.

In recent years I would have said that about "Step Into Christmas" as well as "Please Come Home For Christmas" by the Eagles, "Last Christmas" by Wham, and "Wonderful Christmastime" by Paul McCartney.

This year for some reason I always seem to have it on within 15 minutes of hearing the excrutiating "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" or "Merry Christmas Baby" by Bruce Springsteen, "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" or "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" by the Jackson Five, or Mariah Carey moaning "All I Want For Christmas Is You." Needless to say, the station gets changed immediately when I hear just the first note of any of these.

Last year on WJBR I heard something called "Christmas Eve" by Ritchie Blackmore & Blackmore's Night. It was actually one of the nicest Christmas songs to come along in quite some time. WJBR was the only station I heard it on, but I haven't heard it yet at all this year.
