WJBR's "Narrow" playlist

WJBR is certainly a caricature of itself!

Its playlist is so obscenely narrow. It is quite a hobby of mine to hit the preset and find out which of the same old songs they are playing at the moment. Will it perhaps be "Something to Talk About," by Bonnie Raitt, or possibly "Time of My Life" by Medley & Warnes or "Small Town" from Cougar-Mellencamp? Or, how about one of the three songs each WJBR repeatedly plays from Journey or Genesis?

Isn't there enough other music out there by either these or other artists that could also be played? If you travel outside this area to smaller markets you get stations that have quite varied playlists... or quite a variety of stations from which to choose. But for those of us here in Delaware....it is the same old bologna.

It's a shame that with such a powerful signal that penetrates all and any buildings in New Castle County that their music is very bland. I've tried to listen, but it all has a bland vanilla sound, for my ear. So I tune elsewhere. I'm not the demo they are targetting anyhow as they probably are after the same female listeners that B-101 in Philly seeks after. As WJBR is one of the top rated stations in the Wilmington market with plenty of spots, My Guess is, they'll not be making an real changes soon. If it aint broke don't fix it. I guess one good question would be, how different is WJBR's playlist from B-101's. I know both air Deliah at night, but during the work day how different are their respective playlists?

WJBR is on from a music stand point. It you want variety tune to WSTW and in a head to head battle, WJBR would win everytime. WJBR must be doing something right. They show up in Wilmington, Philly & Baltimore.

Just saw the Philadephia people meter numbers and WJBR's narrow playlist must do something. They had decent cume and numbers for Philadelphia. WSTW and thier we play Paul Davis and Lady Gaga didn't fare as well. I could be wrong, but WSTW has a better signal in Philadephia over WJBR and they lag behind. Kind of like the Wilmington numbers. Hmmm, who is programmed better? I know where I am putting my money.
