WJCL-TV: Savannah's first local news in HD

I'm still kinda shocked that out of the local stations here, 22 beat 11 & 3 to the punch when it comes to broadcasting local news in HD. It looks pretty good actually, and I do believe 22 carried yesterday's St. Patrick's Day parade in HD as well.

I do wonder why WJCL isn't crowing about it with promos all over the place, or even adding the "HD" letters to its bug. I would think they would want to let everyone know & attempt to use it as a competitive advantage over 11 & 3.

They haven't got all the bugs worked out yet! The people behind the scene evidently don't have a clue how to run the new HD equipment especially over on the other half -Fox 28 they've had a ton of screw-ups over the past few days, no sound when picture is in the 16:9 format during the news and filming the anchors at the wrong time and angle making them look like fools, running the wrong news stories and the list goes on and on......

After seeing the station on Making News Savannah Style, I am glad the owners are investing in the equipment. Given that a lot of the employees at WJCL news tend to be beginners in the news business, I would assume the technical learning curve would be a bit longer than a station with a more experienced crew.

Glad to know they got something out of the laughable incompetence displayed by the the far less talented crew at JCL.....However, if you have watched the HD presentation on the news you will no doubt understand every broadcast is a train wreck....But I suspect they will get a ratings boost for local news for those who love to watch gaffes night after night.....the on-air product is as funny as their behind the scenes reality show.....It may be later but no doubt that WTOC and WSAV will have better luck with the so-called "NEW" technology.......

It's safe to say that Fox 28 is also doing news in HD. Talk about a comedy of errors!

I wish some kind soul could get some of this trainwreck-in-motion footage uploaded to YouTube for those of us out of town at the moment.
