WJCL/WTGS to begin content sharing with SMN

The SMN gutted itself when it went bankrupt & is a shell of her former self. The quality of the paper has suffered tremendously. Now it's time to share the cost of rent with the bottom of the pack TV stations in the market.

I can't see anything good coming from this.

SMN is a Morris Newspaper: It's never going to be anything other than low minor league because that is all its management is capable of making it.

I have higher hopes for the two TV stations, however. If the staff can get a bit of mastery over the new technology and shake off their seeming proclivity to think and perform like second-stringers, they will surprise a lot of people. I hardly ever tune into WSAV or WTOC for news anymore: all of the preening and chest-thumping those stations do has grown tedious.

By the way, I have no association with WJCL/WTGS and nothing against WTOC or WSAV. No axes being ground here - just my two slightly tarnished coppers worth of opinion - and you're definitely being overcharged! I will say that, IMO New Vision made a mistake in letting Kelly Foster get away, among a few others the company should've tried harder to retain; and signing Jesse Blanco is, again IMO , a good move. WJCL/WTGS has potential. Will they ever be #1? How the heck do I know? I guess I just like those people and want them to do well.

Agreed on letting Kelly Foster go...bad move. Jesse Blanco OTOH, really is not a natural fit for the market. A rather heavy set hispanic dude with a face for radio is not who I'd be tapping to be a leader on camera in SE GA.

This is Jesse's second round in the market; he did a tour with WSAV a few years ago. I find him to be watchable, even likeable, and altogether a good presence on camera. I never even considered that he is Hispanic; things like that don't register with me until someone else mentions it. Kudos to the station for not playing up anyone's ethnic background.

The new 10PM co-host Lindsay Housaman looks like a pretty good replacement for Foster, though Foster seemed more natural...

Lindsay Housaman looks good on camera, and she has a most interesting mannerism about her voice. I agree, she is a good addition to the staff. The question is, can they keep her more than one contract period?
