WJDX-FM format

Nearly a year ago (in fact, it was February, 2019), 105.1 The River had made a change in its musical repertoire. Not only did the station seem to add more '80s music--but music from the '90s, 2000-2009, and even post-2009 was added.

1. Is 105.1 The River's format still classic hits...or not?
2. If the station's format is no longer classic hits...what is it?

I would call it a gold-based hot ac. But really it's a hodge-podge of a lot of things. They're trying to cater to all people and it's just not going to work. Find a niche and super-serve it.

I like Spozate’s answer of being an updated classic hits station. But I also fail to see how songs from Kings of Leon and Fun. are considered classics so soon. That reason alone is why I also like Jonathan’s answer as calling it a gold-based AC station (won’t say hot AC because it goes way too far back).

Adult Top 40 (gold based). We are in our 6th year doing it. Work well for us, but not for all markets.

Adult hits it is?

Looking at the playlist it looks like a Adult Hits station. Or a more updated Classic Hit station.

I'm leaning towards adult hits.

I don't remember hearing any current hits on 105.1 The River; just music from the '70s, '80s, '90s, and 2000-2009.

Despite the supposed format change, the station still has American Top 40: The '80s (most Sundays) and the Best of the '80s Weekend (Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends only). For about a year, the station has also had Jeff Stevens' The '80s Show.

I wasn't really picking up the same vibe on The River that I do from LYB. I would say LYB sounds much better honestly.
