Well it seems there is a final date (unless someone at CC changes thier mind AGAIN) It will be a sad day. WJER FM has been a part and a good part of this community for a long time. This will be a chance for all to focus on other things. I hope that all of the employees get the news of weather they have a job or not soon so they can at least enjoy thier holidays a little bit. As for the WJER staffer (Amy Smith) she sure is loyal and passionate about her job and the people she works for. I hope they have room for her in the AM side. I myself have not tried to tune in on AM for years. I imagine that Petricola and his group will have some tough decisions to make in the next couple weeks.

Has anyone heard who will be kept for AM 1450 when the split happens?
And what will the new format be on 101.7? Has that been determined, and I've just missed the boat?

with all due respect..do you have any clue what you're talking about? You keep repeating Clear Channel keeps changing their minds on the takeover date...yet we've only heard one announced date. Do you know something we don't know? Furthermore......it's not like the fine folks at WJER had no time to prepare. The station was sold over three years ago. What a shock it must be! Does news still travel by donkey in Tuscarawas Country?

Hey Red. You sound like one of the more bitter posters I have read on here. Did you recently get axed by CC in the 4th Quarter purge?
Obviously you must be from one of their BIG markets like Fargo. Only 1 announced date?..get out from under your tumbleweed. This back and forth end date has been a major topic on here for the last 6 months or so.
Only weeks ago was the date confirmed (BY CC by the way).
As far as the format goes. Who cares which cookie cutter voicetracked format the wheel stops on.
My guess is It will only be a matter of months until CC sells off the Akron/Canton cluster, No I was not sworn to secrecy on that-just the companies M.O.

Seriously, I'm not angry about anything. Sorry if it came across like that. I worked for Clear Channel a while back but I left on my own. I wasn't fired or anything I just didn't care for the job I had at the time so I quit. I don't have any really strong feelings for CC one way or the other. They treated me well while I was with them. That's all I can really tell you about CC from personal experience. Personally, I never had a problem with them but that doesn't mean I am some sort of CC apologist. I've heard all the horror stories about CC and I have no reason to question their legitmacy. Conversely I have no real reason to bash CC either. It is what it is. Some people love them others hate them and many are in between.
Regarding WJER, I just happened to know what the new format is going to be. I mentioned it on this board and I was immediately attacked and told I didn't know what I was talking about. How that somehow makes me the angry and bitter one is for greater minds than mine to ponder I guess. Sorry if I made people mad. I just wanted to talk radio with you all. I'm not bitter at all. I enjoyed my radio career a great deal. I just got older and decided to try something a little more stable. My apologies.

As the date grew closer, it became apparent that logistics would get in the way (and weather, etc.), which we always said. The date was never confirmed in public by either CC or WJER.
The December 26th date was announced by Mr. Petricola on his own station's airwaves.
It would appear likely CC will take over operations of the station the following day or so.
