WJER-FM move to North Canton approved

I highly doubt it would happen, but...

Canton targeted CHR to embarass WZKL and run them out of the format??? I'll come be MD in a heartbeat!
______________

Because that is JUST what Canton needs - another CC cookie cutter. I'll love hearing the one or two live local personalities and all 16 hours of voicetracking each day.

Sports talk. You've heard it here first. KDD runs Hot AC, so an AC or CHR flip would not make sense. May be an HLO FM symolcast?

Hmmm...that's funny.
Last Canton book, the listeners LOVE that CC cookie cutter programming.
The syndicated/voice-tracked Valentine in the Morning is beating the pants off the live and local WZKL in the 18-34 demo.|
For that matter, the canned John Tesh Show also beats 'ZKL.
Go figure
Just because you are live and local, doesn't mean you're entertaining and worth listening to.

Format speculation...Re: WJER-FM move to North Canton approved

Lots of you saying CHR...but I just don't see it.

I'm going with Soft AC. It makes PERFECT sense.
Squeeze WHBC-FM numbers even more. You would have WKDD on the Hot AC side, and the new 101.7 on the Soft AC side.
They'd call it Lite FM or Sunny.

The gang at CC Akron/Canton is certainly no stranger to squeezing stations. Just look at what they are doing in Akron with WHLO and WARF taking on WNIR

Right on, Deluca. Canton's got you. There's no need for anyone else.

You have got to be kidding me. Sports talk? Why?

WHLO does not need to simulcast. They are a flame thrower AM that doesn't need any help.

As somebody else pointed out below, that "CC cookie cutter" does better than your station does in several dayparts, DePuka. Care to place a friendly wager on the outcome of this book between you and Valentine? I bet he beats you, W18-34.
______________

Ahhhh yes, and if only every example of being live & local meant it would be entertaining and compelling, you'd be on to something Deluca.

Breaking My Silence On The Board

> Please, tell us....who "announced it to the world" and
> probably newspaper reporters? When did this happen?????

I did the "announcing". It was released Friday by the FCC (note the date on the FCC PDF file attached). A tip of the hat to my good friend Scott Fybush for providing the heads up.

You obviously don't get my tongue in cheek sense of humor.

The "newspaper reporters" line was a joking reference to past events on this very board, where the New Philadelphia Times-Reporter posted speculation directly off of messages posted here. It's not a stretch to figure out that they'll find this news out directly from either OMW or this thread. :)

Thus, the joke. Jokes really don't contain much humor if you have to explain them, so I'll dial back in the future. I've said frequently that OMW is just a little blog in a corner of the online universe, and nothing more.

Back to my self-imposed silence here.

Do you listen to any other KISS stations in the country? They all sound DIFFERENT. KISS Cleveland is one of the best sounding CHRs in the country by far. Anyone with a brain can hear the different VO talents. Anyone with a brain can hear the different jocks on. Anyone with a brain can look in mediabase and see that each one plays different songs in different rotations. So tell me how that is a cookier cutter station? They have the same logo? Lame. Wal-Mart has the same logos but each store is different. Trust me. I lived in Vermont and I can tell you that the Wal-Mart in the middle of nowhere Vermont is much different than the one just down the street from me now.

Listeners have NO CLUE it's tracked. Does the jock come out and say "Hi I'm Randi West and I'm actually recorded from North Carolina?" uh, no. Give me a break.
