WJFN 970 Brandon sounds like they have lost the STL. Several days ago they ran loud white noise most of the day, then the station was off the air for a few days. both AM and FM. Its back on the air but it sounds like a microphone is stuffed into a telephone receiver. Not even "telephone" quality audio. Very tinny.

970, 1400, 1240...all just AM clutter. 930, 1590, and 1300 aren't far behind.

Sad...the frequencies that were around in the 60's were all doing well: Rule:
everything changes, ( and NOT necessarily for the best!) JBI

Too many stations...move ins.
I think there are 8AMs. and 4FMs actually licensed to Jackson.
Does WFMN actually serve Flora? Is their public file even required to be there anymore...or a studio?
Or, WSTZ or 98.7 Vicksburg.
Or, WQJQ (?) Kozi...(well, I can't spell it)!
Don't blame the operators...it's the FCC and NAB.

As of Monday morning WJFN 970 is back to normal.
Growing up in the 70's the FM stations in Jackson were:
90.7? WJSU 100 watts
94.7 WKXI Urban
95.5 WLIN Easy Listening
96.3 WJFR Religon
99.7 WJMI Urban
102.9 WZZQ-Album Rock

AM stations were
620 WJDX Contemporary
930 WSLI MOR
1300 WRBC Top 40
1400 WJQS Country
1450 WJXN Southern Gospel
1500 WOKJ Soul
1590 WWUN Country (for a while)

98.7, 106.7 were week signals out of Vicksburg
105.1 could only be picked up in Kosciusco
Most of the other stations not listed were either not on the air yet or were outside of Jackson. 98.7, 106.7, 105.1,92.5, 107.5, either moved the towers or got power increases so they could get a signal into Jackson.

they lost their STL RX to ants.. it was full of them I'm told.

they were on a phone line for a couple days.
