WJIB

WJTO 730 Bath ME switches to 750 on Sunday according to its Bob Perry. WJIB
should wind up on 720 at some point later.
What's the frequency Kenneth...
Source Bob Bittner's Mem Sta Facebook.
He adds it has to be re-tuned which may take some time.

Not official at all but apparently the WJIB tribute site JibOnTheWeb had apparently ceased. Some folks stumbled on it--at the time before Garabedian's WJIB and Bob's Memory Station began to stream--and thought it was officially tied to the station.

No confusing the two, if you still have ears. WJIB is primarily vocals, while JOTW was primarily instrumentals and a recreation of FM 97. Warren Schroeger worked his but off and it's a shame JOTW is gone.

Yeh, I wonder why they shut it down - did John complain about them steping on his call letters?

A statement from them says:"Unfortunately, certain legal matters have made proceeding with our project much too challenging, especially for a weary old timer like me."

Friends and Lovers of WJIB Facebook Group
had a post mentioning a Live365 link is still working, but page is down.

JOTW was programmed so much better than any web or satellite delivered station. It was a labor of love, and a darned shame it was derailed. Here in the Valley of the Sun there's a new streaming elevator music station that's a passable replacement: Calm Arizona – Beautiful Music From The Grand Canyon State They also has an app for your smart phone. Run by the same folks that program KAHM in Prescott, but not a simulcast.

Shut down? I am listening to Jib On The Web right now through Frontier-Nuvola which is a portal for my Sangean internet radio. I can also listen via the website, (which I am doing right now.) The entry lists it as "JIB on the Web (Live365.)"

The Live365 feed is just a music playlist. It doesn't have the rest of the programming elements that made JOTW more than just a jukebox.

I am currently listening to "The Elegant Sound". Now if I should hear Tony Hatch's orchestra and "Music" at the top of the hour, it would be a recreation of The CBS "Young Sound" and I will be very happy.

Garabedian aims to move it to 720 by Thanksgiving and to go to 5,000 watts day (now 250). The FM translator antenna would move as well as the AM.
Some who complain about the weakness of the FM signal don't understand these are not full signals and must allow for other stations including WMRC's FM translator also on 101.3

Some stations accent the FM in their branding. If someone else owned WJIB they could call it "101.3 WJIB (..afterthought: oh yeah and AM 740, or 720, too..)"
Those disappointed by the "rock 92.9" move should know the AM 1330 is much stronger than the 106.1 translator..if you don't mind rock on an AM signal...
(WJIB and WMEX certainly are out there for
oldies/standards music on the AM dial.)

Stronger or not, few, if any, Rock 92.9 listeners are going to tune to 1330. They have other and better ways to get that programming than by AM.

WJIB's target audience is older. Its listeners have already been listening to AM, and its potential new listeners probably aren’t as internet and smartphone savvy. Having said that, I tend to think Garabedian is wasting money with these AM signal upgrades. Hopefully, he either has the money to burn or will be able to recover the costs during normal operation. I understand he was planning to continue Bittner's model of operating the station off of listener contributions.
