Prior to CBN, WJIV and the other 4 stations were part of the old IV Broadcasting Network with headquarters in Ithaca. I believe it was owned by the same company that owned Agway. Back then, this outfit was the hub for what was known as "weather roundup" where IV along with other stations across the state participated in reports from correspondents on the the weather in their respective areas. I can distinctly remember WGY participating during the old "Chanticlear" program at 6:25 AM, during the days of Charles John Stephenson and later Don Tuttle. I can remember reports in sucession starting in Jamestown(WJTN), then Rochester, Fulton(WOSC), Schenectady(WGY), Elmira, and on to Ithaca where a statewide forcast was given. Some tells me it featured Classical music and probably farm news. Anyone old enough to remember this? In fact I think there is some of this material in an air checks website.
