Hi everyone,

After seeing radiopilot's super-cool set up in his pics below
I think my New Year's resolution should be to clean up my studio!
It's going through some renovations so it's not neat like his, but..

Identifying some of what you can see: (left to right)
CBS Volumax (white unit, back left corner)
Homemade monitor from Soundesign amp
MaCom satellite receiver
JVC dual deck cassette
Sony RCD W-1 CD burner
RCA multi-disc changer
2 Sparta turntables
Cetec/Sparta AS-30B audio board
Sennheiser MD421-U-5 microphone
Spotmaster 5-SPOT cart machine (that only has 4..but it was free)

Not shown:
Streaming computer is to the left of this control room

Spotmaster single - play cart machine (works, complete with the "clunking"
solenoid, for you old-timers!)
2 TEAC single disc CD players
TEAC X-300 reel-to-reel

This is one room of the two-room station. The second room contains much of the
music library, although there's a giant floor-to-ceiling shelf behind this
control room to hold vinyl albums. Room #2 also has a complete set-up with only a small Radio Shack Board, 2 turntables, 2 cassette decks and 2 CD players.
It can be used either for production, or it is also connected to the big
set-up above and can be used on the air..and often is.

My wife's Christmas wish: Someone get this dude a radio building! LOL!

You have a great setup also, the two room idea is nice, I ran out of room in my house so I took the dining room... anybody ever use their dining room?

I tried to make things less cluttered, so that knobs and buttons were not accidentally turned off or plugs pulled out, etc.

You've got alot of good equipment, do you use most of it? I found that in this hobby we tend to collect alot of electronics and it hurts us to get rid of it... I've just donated alot of the things I didn't need to the high school program. I rarely use the dual cd player, I have it as a backup if the computer ever fails, I can crank it up and run cd's, etc.

My wife was unwilling to give up the dining room but she saw the benefit in my happiness running the station, even if it's flea powered....

Actually, yes, I still have material from all of the sources..I guess the reel-to-reel gets used the least use, but I have a lot of old reels that I'm pulling things off of from time to time. I've donated a board to a commercial station that burned and lost everything; I gave a C-C coupler to Rev. Chrysafis; and
gave a good bit of stuff to a friend who started up a gospel internet station.
With WJJD-Part 15 and internet and soon, Bill Blew's WSJL, this is turning into a real operation.

My wife is very good natured about everything. The two rooms are bedrooms
that kind of form a "wing" of sorts, with a little alcove that has the 2 doors
to the radio rooms. It kind of keeps everything closed off. It helps keep the little nephews out of everything. Our dining room is not separated from the living room area so that wouldn't work for us. Many of my broadcasts are live.
My wife's been around radio, although she didn't pursue a career in it as I did.
She just wishes we had more power! Since she has to drive around town a lot in her work and is mostly out of range!

LOL!> That unit you have up there looks like a Sparta unit...two turntables and the mini-mixer, very similar if not exactly like one we used at our AM for mobile broadcasts.....Always wanted to lay my hands on one, if not for the excellence of it (it was actually state of the art at the time), but for the nostalgia of it.All we had added to it was a couple of cart machines, and I see you have one of those to the right of it....Actually, pretty professional in the sense of looking back to the great days of radio in the 70's.....Thanks so much for posting it.
