WJJG AM-1530 Whats Up With This???

Lately During the afternoons I have been tuning into WJJG AM-1530,
I have been hearing shows that sounds like they have on WVON AM-1450
show that contains all black negro spiritual music and they made a few
racial remarks against white people.

Again, This Saturday Morning at 7am, Joe Gentile always has on
Frank Sinatra music. But Instead, Alls I heard was a black fella
playing all black negro spiritual music and using racial remarks
against white people. (In which It's hurts me pretty bad)

+Can somebody on this board tell me what is going on a WJJG?

+Where is good old Frank Sinatra? Haven't heard him in a while!

+Is WJJG is going to soon change it's format?

I know that Joe Gentile is on a long term vacation,
and Joe had said on one of his shows that he despise WVON AM-1450.
However, I bet that someone is being very sneaky behind Joe's Back?
In otherwords, While The Cats Are Away, The Mice Will Shall Play!!!...

Can someone help me out on this???...

It's called "Brokered Programming"

I believe WJJG is mostly a brokered station.

1450 is brokered ethnic as WCEV (its a share time station) from 1PM-10PM.

Huh, That very interesting!
However, I have another interesting question.
I may not understand this one, but Why does WCEV & WVON
Share the same frequency?

I know that both WVON & WCEV been sharing the same frequency
for many years, couldn't they both have their own frequencies???...

They don't have to have their own frequencies, but this was an on
going mysterious wonder of mind that I have been curious about
for quite a long time.

Could you or anybody else on this board explain why???...

I'm guessing that the FCC couldn't decide between Midway (what was then WXOL) and the Migalas (WCEV). When the original 'VON moved down to 1390, WFMT was simulcasting on 1450, but everyone knew it was a temporary thing.

I have the feeling that everyone expected one of them to sell to the other eventually, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm sure Melodie Spann would love to have afternoon drive in particular, but the Migalas seem to be in no hurry to get out of the biz. I wonder if Lucynda's kids are in the family business now.

There is this little thing called city of license. I believe WCEV and WVON are actually licensed for Cicero, Illinois. My guess is that WCEV made for a much more compelling case as an ethnic station vs. WVON back when their applications were being evaluated. Cicero was and is a very ethnic community, having gone from a Czech/German/Polish/Italian community to Hispanic since WCEV signed on. The station at one time had it's studios and transmitters in the Olympic Building when it held the calls WHFC.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe both stations share the same building for their studios. I know they share the same tower.

They share the same transmitter and tower but WCEV is located on Belmont Ave.

WCEV and WVON share the transmitter located at 3350 S. Kedzie. That is where the WVON studios are located as well.

WCEV's studios are located at 5356 W. Belmont.<P ID="signature">______________
