WJJZ 106.1 Playing In Doctor's Office - Tonight?

I was in a doctor's office tonight and heard smooth jazz music playing pretty loudly. A song ended and I heard a jingle 'WJJZ 106.1', then another song. It was definately from the jingle package they used when on 106.1 I listened after that but only heard more music, no other breaks. Did WJJZ ever put out a CD with their jingles on it? I don't think it was an old aircheck - this was a Warminster eye doctor, not a New York dentist! (LOL) Later they switched to standards (very strange hearing Jimmy Durante sing something besides "Frosty the Snowman" in a doctor's office), so I have to believe it was a CD.

Reminds me of my favorite radio station album from the early '70s - the "WIBG Where Your Friends Are" album that had that great jingle package mixed in between songs. I don't think WFIL ever did that with all their albums. Did anybody else ever make a station album with their jingles (besides the re-created "Cruzin" series)?

Don't know about the WJJZ 106.1 thing. I do think that CC was really stupid in dumping the Smooth Jazz format. It might not be the biggest money maker, but what does it cost to run? GM seems to be making a go of it on 97.5, and we know spending money ain't a GM thing!

I never heard the "Where your friends are" LP, but I loved that jingle package! To me, that was Wibbage's last hurrah as a top 40 station. I listened to WFIL and WIFI, but there was something about WIBG.

A while back I took a 106.1 CD out of the Bala Cynwyd Library. Right before Lily Was Here-Candy Dulfer...a 106.1 jingle.

Well, upon the recent "hire" of the syndicated Ramsey Lewis morning show, they appear to be saving a few bucks here and there...

That reminds me, I wonder if there is a dentist in the New York area that has the old "Musicradio 77" blaring from his speakers... ;D

I don't think WFIL ever did that with all their albums.

The WFIL History of Rock 'N Roll (The Fifties) Albums 1 and 2 had jingles on them.

WISX 106.1 is running a smooth jazz format on their HD-2 channel. They have been doing that since the flip, before 97.5 flipped. (It is kinda weird that they're still running it, though, with the same format on the air at 97.5). Perhaps that's what it was. Though, if the jingles used the WJJZ call letters, that's pretty confusing considering those are the current call letters on 97.5.

Here's a link where you can hear it:

Before CBS-FM came back to the main signal, I'm pretty sure I read that said dentist used to run WCBS-FM HD-2 in his office.

WJJZ 97.5 recently started using the old jingle package that was used on WJJZ 106.1 by Clear Channel, so this is probably what you heard. The only difference in the tune is that over the part were 106.1 used to be sung, it now says ninety-seven fiiiive. This is probably what you heard and didn't notice the 97.5 part... I did a double-take the first time I heard it on 97.5 because I was surprised.

i heard that too :)

The jingle I heard that night was definately 106.1 - so I'd guess it was on a CD as Cyber said he borrowed from the library.

Interesting that it was noted above that WFIL had jingles on their fifties albums, since they were MOR and ABC network shows in the fifties, not top 40, I assume the albums had their Pop Explosion jingles, not the 'WFIL Radio 560' jingles Uncle Philsy, Jim Gearhart, Al Meltzer etc. played before that.
