WJJZ: Fire that night jock!

First step, fire that ridiculously fake-voiced night jock. I don't care where he's from or how popular he's been elsewhere. He is horrible. Whenever he talks, I listen for a second (in disbelief that he expects anyone to think he actually speaks like that) and then I change the station.

Talk about annoying! He's worse than that old Weatherband radio voice--and even that voice got replaced!

The second step is called Chill. May as well give it a whirl. They've ruined the Smooth Jazz format with all those vocals and AC songs. Too much of their off-format stuff is on WDAS-FM and WRNB.

Im available. I have a deep voice and I can make myself sound black without sounding phony. The Elevator Operator will vouch for my talents. I will work for 23k a year.

If you can live in Philadelphia on 23k a year, you should be writing a book on financial planning.<P ID="signature">______________

I thought Doug Henderson sounded great on WDAS-FM, but I agree he definitely sounds out of place on WJJZ.

23K for nights in Philly?

Hmmm...You're really not that far off.

:)

WJJZ obviously has Doug to try and compete with the other urban sounding stations. I'm not sure whether it works or not, but believe it or not, I do like him better than the last night jock Bill Simpson that always sounded rushed, like he was laying down the tracks just to get it done.

Either way, this leads to a whole other topic mentioned earlier. Is voicetracking even necessary anymore? Stations have proven they can get decent ratings with no voice whatsoever.

I almost find voices on stations like WJJZ taking me away from the music. Just automate the whole thing. I never thought I'd say it, but that's the trend in radio folks.

Re: WJJZ: Who is Bill Simpson?

Isn't Bill Simpson actually Sanborn of Carter & Sanborn?

Let's see, after FWT, PA w/h tax, city wage tax, FICA, transportation to and from the job, you don't have enough left for food.

And just a note to the poster, WJJZ has white dj's also-ever listen to the mid-day guy?. The black crack is totally out of line.
