WJJZ tune

I noticed recently that WJJZ went back to using the jingle tune that the old Clear Channel station had. I had thought that it was a Clear Channel thing, but if its not a clear channel jingle, then where does it come from?

Are you talking about the "logo"? I've heard that one on the smooth jazz stations in New York and even Tampa. That logo is so mundane.

Well, the old WJJZ logo was used in Tampa and many other places, and I've heard the tune in between songs in Tampa too, but who owns it? At first, I thought it was on stations from Clear Channel, but now, that is apparently not true. The new station also has a very mundane logo, but I've never seen it anywhere else because it's not very good.

Another thing I noticed is that WJJZ is changing its image, they refer to themselves as WJJZ 97.5 instead of 97.5 WJJZ as they did when they started out.

It's always a possibility that logos and jingles are part of packages from a production company, like TM Century, which is now Jones TM. They, and others, usually barter their "stock" jingle packages to stations across the country, with custom sings for each station. And generally, once the license agreement is no longer valid (due to expiration) then market exclusivity is gone, and anyone who wants to sign a licensing agreement with the production company to use said production or jingle package can do so. So that may be the case here, but I don't know. It's one explanation though.
