The big 14 went from a .8 share up to a 2.2 share. Not bad for a 1kw graveyard station. I would think the 104.1 translator would have a lot to do with the better numbers. Any thoughts?

Simply amazing! I saw this too when the Winter numbers came out. I can't remember the last time WJLD had a 2 share.

That translator has been a real lifesaver for WJLD. Good coverage, too... I can receive it with a pretty good signal all the way here in south Shelby county, both in the car and at home.

It is surprising how far their signal on 104.1 reaches out. I can sometimes hear them in the afternoons all the way up here in NW Cullman County, and I am about 60 miles away. If it weren't for 104.3 WZYP, I could probaly hear them all the time.

Lesson to be learned, in FM height of antenna is everything, WJLD's FM translator was 250 watts at 200 feet and the coverage was so-so, they lowered the power to 125 watts and raised the antenna to 623 feet from the same Red Mountain site and it made a remarkable difference in coverage. Lesson learned, it more important to have height than power.

Guess I was one of those sub-0.8 shares back when I lived in the area. I always liked the music on JLD and WATV as well and listened through the noise down in Shelby County, until they went HD, then I gave up.

I forget if they were running HD last time I was in town or not (I'm sure I posted about it on here, lol) but if they are, the translator is gonna be the only way people can listen without getting mad at their radios!
