WJLD's translator

I was up on Shades Mountain today and heard WJLD's translator (W281AB). It's now broadcasting from its new location atop Red Mountain. Previously, when the translator was broadcasting from the Ishkooda area, the signal was pretty much nonexistent in the OTM areas, but that's all changed now. In the Hoover area, I was even able to receive it on a cheap clock radio with no problem, whatsoever. I drove south on I-65 today and was able to hear an interference-free signal all the way to the I-459/65 interchange. I was still able to receive it down to Calera, albeit the signal had diminished quite a bit by the time I got that far south.

That new signal should come in handy for WJLD, especially during the nighttime hours. Typically, the AM signal can't be heard at night once you get south of the Hoover area.

Do any of the Birmingham locals continue to broadcast high school football? I seem to remember WJLD and WJOX being pretty dedicated to this, 'JOX (then on AM 690) having Hoover High broadcasts.
