WJLT Evansville Audio

Just had to compliment WJLT 105.3 on having some of the most non-fatiguing audio I've heard lately. The music sounds great...the voice is a little shallow...a bit of mic processing would fix that. Pretty refreshing listen...

Noticed it, too.... But the mic is weak and does nothing to put the announcers on equal par with the music.... Crunch is needed...

I'd like to hear a little more level consistency between tracks, but I agree that it is less fatiguing than it used to be.

Good and not overbearing AGC would be needed on the variables on tracks..

AGREE, Skip. It's called: installing an Aphex Compellor in front of the final processing to correct for level inconsistencies from the PC automation system and present the final modulation instrument of your choice with an audio "sweet spot". 'Sounds better that way – regardless of 1980s analog or modern day digital. It's like a skilled DJ hand on the pot ;)

Most high end audio processor makers discourage the use of pre-processing. They say their units are quite capable of handling anything when set up properly.

I hear you, hipporadio! Aphex Compellor...the "swiss army knife" of processors! Those boxes have saved my butt on many processing problems-I even keep one in my portable test rack so I can have level, solid signals to work with. Over the years, I must have installed 50-60 units.
