WJMJ 88.9 Hartford CT

Have been meaning to post this for quite some time now, but there is a BFL/EZL station in Hartford CT, and it has been on the air for several years...It's WJMJ (Calls stand for Jesus, Mary and Joseph) 88.9FM. They are run by the Catholic ArchDiocese of Hartford, and broadcast from Saint Thomas College just west of Hartford.
They feature the EZL format from the 70s and 80s during the day with local breaks for religious messages, occasional programs of all faiths, not just Catholic. Most of the EZL music is between 8-5PM, and after 5 they go to mostly Religious programming and classical music during the evening. I don;t know if they broadcast all night. A couple of times, while driving back from NYC late at night, they were off the air, but that was a couple years back.
Much of the music actually sounds like it is right off old reels of either Schulke or Bonneville tape reels. Plenty of Frank Chacksfield, Ronnie Aldrich, Living Strings, James Last etc. Sometimes a CD is thrown in of religious music, but for the most part the format is EZL...Often the quality of the music sounds rather flat, as if the tapes are simply wearing thin.

I don't hear them regularly, as I only travel down that way every couple of months or so, but try to make a habit of tuning in. Perhaps other readers and posters can add more about the station.

But, if in the area, I suggest checking them out. Their signal goes out about 30 miles from Hartford to Wallingford to the south, and up into Springfield Mass to the north along I-91, and Waterbury to the west along I-84. They even have repeaters/translators in New Haven at 107.1 and Hamden (I believe that's on 93.1)

Yep, I'm aware of this station. I try and tune it in whenever I get up that way to visit relatives.

I wish they were a bit more B/EZ intensive like fellow Catholic B/EZ stations KLUX and KHOY, but props to WJMJ for at least doing it part-time.
