WJMK-HD2 Broadcasting With Live DJs

Just took a listen to WJMK.com and found that live DJs are on. Greg Brown is live and sounding great! He announced that Fred Winston and Dick Biondi will be on later. Great news if you have an HD radio!

So they should have thought about that and put Jack on HD2. Then there wouldn't have been a problem.

Again, those who want to listen to the Oldies on the radio must be tech-savvy. My pops don't even have a computer and he don't want one. I just got him a cheap 96 car cuz his 94 finally died out, and he wants the CD player removed and the DUAL KNOB analog dial tape player installed. I just might give him a digital tape player for his b-day.

I guess a station somewhere had to be the first on the air with live DJ's. To bad nobody's got a radio to listen to them on! What a waste for the next five years! The same 300 hundred songs too!

Dont knock it until you try it.

It is hard enough going back to analog FM (from HD FM) let alone XM. I dont know how you can listen to that.

Analog FM sounds lifeless after listening to HD for a few hours.

I've been addicted to XM. Its pretty much all I have been listening to for the past week. Today is my first day listening to FM most of the day since Sunday. I made 2 tapefulls of Nine FM and did some DXing last night and it was lots of fun.
______________

I have to say... I really missed these guys. Usually when something goes away in the radio world, it doesn't come back. It sure is nice to hear them playing music again.

Since 104.3 analog went Jack, I have been listening to Sirius Gold, 60's Vibrations, and Totally 70's on Sirius for my oldies fix. They are awesome stations, but they do not have the same magic (no pun intended) as Dick, Fred, and Greg do.

Even if I can only pick them up on the internet with crappy quality sound, it is better than not hearing them at all.

That's the spirit! I feel the same way, but since I am near New York, no moves have been made to put the old 'CBS guys OR the music on HD2. Hopefully, someone will eventually be able to do that.

I had been listening to WJMK yesterday, and I felt a connection--one that I had not felt on a radio for a few months. These guys were all booted in place of JACK, and hearing them again was very enjoyable. They were really having a great time. It gives me hope that if it happens in Chicago, there may be a chance in NYC.

Now, there is no question whether to listen to the WCBSFM stream or WJMK. Unless something else happens, WJMK.com will be playing on my computer during the week!!

Analog FM sounds lifeless already.

Are radio stations actually starting to use higher bitrate MP3 files in their automation software? Music on commercial stations sounds horribly compressed these days.

Case in point: Tune in to your local non-com or college station that plays music (or local station that still plays direct from CDs). Then tune in to a similarly-formatted commercial station. Hear the difference.

Our local rock station just moved from CDs to compressed MOHD via AudioVault, iirc, and it sounds like crap.

uh no, I have played it for a number of non-audiophiles and they all notice the difference.
