WJNS Tower down

Hey all -

Apparently, the tower for WJNS 92.1 FM came down on Friday, 9/12/2008. I noticed that the station was off the air yesterday, and I just thought they were getting ready to build out their Construction Permit for Bentonia. It was pretty windy yesterday... but was it "take down a tower" windy? I guess that must have been the case.

There were no reported injuries, and the studio (which is at the base of the former tower) was not damaged.

The "Down Tower Club" is not one you want to be a member of. Unfortuneately, I am.

Been there, done that. We lost 5 towers in the '94 ice storm. The 95.3 tower near Drew, our STL tower in Cleveland, and 3 of the 5 towers in WDSK's directional array. WDSK later went back on-air with 1-kw non-DA.

I worked at one station where.. it's not IF the tower will collapse, it's just WHEN.
