WJNT 1180 AM sold to Inner City Broadcasting

No, since it's on 1180 and that's adjacent to 1190 WLIB in NYC, the'll probably take it dark to let out the NYC pattern even more. Remember what ICBC did to WOWO for the 20 mintues they owned it?? 50kw to 9.8 kw.

HUH????(sorry, that's Mississippi talk for "what the hell are you smoking?")

I had no idea that WJNT was up for sale to begin with. But I also don't expect any major changes to occur.

For the comments about WLIB, if Inner City wants to have a liberal talk station heard in Jackson, simply put it on WOAD-AM or WKXI-AM.

Uh, OK...

WJNT is already just 500w at night, WITH a null in the general direction of NYC (presumably protecting WHAM/Rochester).

Rochester is a much, much, much bigger issue (assuming it figures into the calculus at all) than WJNT.

And, then, there's Cuba and Radio Marti.

I am remiss in not looking at this more carefully. First, I didn't realize that ICBC had other properties in the market. Their purchase does make sense in the realm. Also, wasn't aware of the night time pattern. Thanks for bringing that to my attention without making me look too much like a fool. I left the MS radio scene in 1977, so I'm a little behind.
My only experience with ICBC is their crippling of the WOWO night signal. I also had some history with the corporate parent of WINS buying and killing 1010 in Little Rock. Glad 1080 will continue.
Thanks all.

Thanks J B. I can't believe it's been so long. I haven't forgotten about the coffee. Just gotta get the time to come and visit. I kept promising Larry Fuss that I'd drop in on him, and he upped and moved to 'Vegas.....the nerve of some people. I bet we could find a couple of old broadcast people to roust..... In fact, I hear the lady who runs ETV is the same little babe that I taught to run a board when I was running USM's FM station back in 1972...
