WJOX signal

At first I thought it was just the usual weird reception that happens this time of year but now it seems like it must be something else. WJOX had a decent signal in the Anniston area until a few weeks ago, maybe two, and now it's pretty much unlistenable most of the time. Anybody know if they have done anything that would affect coverage over here or has somebody else signed on or upped power on 94.5 elsewhere?

Check one or two channels up and one or two channels down. See if someone has put a translator on the air very near the WJOX frequency. If they have, and you are a regular listener, get their call letters and report it to WJOX. Translators cannot interfere with full service broadcast stations if they have regular listeners in the area of interference.

Chris, I'm noticing reception out of Birmingham on several stations is not good lately. Particularly Magic 96 and WJOX. Are they on the same tower? Some folks on the Atlanta boards are having weird reception issues in their city lately as well, and one person speculated that a recent meteor shower could play a part in it. Not sure how much validity there is to that, though.

Meteor scatter results in VERY brief openings. A meteor burst could interfere with WJOX for a few seconds.

However, we've had some pretty strong tropospheric openings lately, and they last much longer. Various Birmingham stations have been blasting in up here in the Nashville area last week. WZZK for one, despite having a 100kw local all-sports operation on 104.5. Live 100.5 was basically a local for two or three days. (100.5 is a fairly open frequency around here) Wednesday morning, a co-worker told me she couldn't get her favorite Nashville station, it was getting clobbered by someone giving traffic reports for I-20.

Where is WRLT up there? 99.9 ? 100.1 ? I stream it all the time but haven't been up there in 2-3 years...
