WJOX

So, what changes are being made that Winches didn't like? I'm very very curious about this one. Could they be planning on moving Dunnaway to the time slot? He definitly would give Finebaum a run for hgis money.

Is Winches off the air? Merry Christmas to all!! No more 2 and half minute long spots for his preferred clients? Happy New Year. Finally some direction!

Wow, what happened to Herb? He's not on the website at all.

Seriously, I am no longer in the market. What happened?

As great as Herb once was on TV and doing Stallions PBP, he was unbearable on WJOX. Don't care much for Dunnaway either, but he'd be an improvement.

On NBC-13 this morning, Dunnaway read a story that stated that Winches quit Wednesday afternoon right before he was scheduled to go on the air. Winches was not happy with changes going on at the station. I assume he was not happy because the changes would affect him.

I never listened when it was just Winches and Melick. When they added Kelly Hunter I started listening. She adds quite a bit to the show.

Could it be that she is has become more popular than Herbie?

You know who I have always wanted to see on WJOX full time?

Hurricane Shane. It would give him a chance to open up and really be himself and talk about what he loves. It is a real shame he is being wasted just reading liners at the Eagle.

Well, last I huurd, Shane is the PD over at the Eagle. If that's true, he's not exactly just reading liners.

Also, I think after the debacle that became of The X (and mind you, he was one of the first off the ship way back when), the last company he'd ever want to work for again is Citadel.

As far as JOX goes, any afternoon drive would be a significant gain, so long as it be local. Citadel is entering entirely new territory here. If they play their cards right, they can have a very highly rated station on their hands.

Trust me. I used to do nights at the Point. If he is in the Cox family, he is just reading liners. Cox doesn't let their programmers do much.

Bob Carlton reports that JOX is splitting the AM off into a seperate station soon, and Winches was not going to be on the FM. (Obviously they want Finebaum in PM Drive) So he walked out.

I think Coach Propst said it best on his MTV show, "Ding"!

According to the article, Winches said that he left because he was the one who started JOX and if listeners would wind up listening to the FM rather than the AM. I don't really understand the reasoning behind all of that. JOX is still JOX. It's the same station; it's just going to be on a different frequency and band. Also, given the signals of the two stations, the AM signal is going to go out much further than the FM, anyhow. Seems like he'd be more offended if Citadel asked him to move to the FM.
