WJPA off the Air

did they lose power at the studio?
power at the tranny or both?

if at the tranny is it worth having a generator? to broadcast to the local community?

finally is WKZY also off the air?

the wjpa website and observer reporter website have no information about this.

observer website indicates power out to 25,000.

did this outage hit the paper as well? but their website seems current

I went to the Pirate game last night, heading in I notriced JPA am/fm both down, KZV was on. This was around 430pm. On the way back to Steubenville around midnight, JPA FM was on (don't know about the AM) and of course WBT on 1110

Jim, may I ask what WBT out of Charlotte has to do with WJPA?

Or are you just saying you enjoyed listening to WBT's programming on your trip?

HEY PRATTE4LIFE..[EDIT]

Weren't people talking about WJPA & WKZV being off the air.

If YOU THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE, you'd get the connection.

Here is the connection [EDIT]

WJPA-AM 1450

WKZV-AM 1110 (DAYTIMER)

WBT-AM 1110 (OBVIOUSLY AFTER DAYTIMER IS OFF).

''HAVE A NICE DAY!''

(Hey Treff! I got your back this time.)

Re: WJPA off the Air update

pete povich on the air today indated there was no power at the transmitter site. meetings were going to be held on monday to discuss this problem and solutions. so it does not happen in the future

I'm sure it's distressing for them. They've had extended stretches off the air in the last few months -- the February snow storm and now this.

"No, ma'am, we are off the air....

Now, how can we make an announcement that we are off the air?" :D

A portable generator they can cart out to the transmitter would do it, and get them on the AM side. They'd need a bigger one to get the FM on...like a hard-wired gas unit. If they had a makeshift studio setup in there with the most basic equipment, they could be on in times like this.
