WJPF meant no BBQ

Someone told me that the BBQ place in Herrin across from the old WJPF studio had great food. I stopped by once & got in line but once I saw the prices I left. I could never afford to try it, working full-time at WJPF!

I made $2.00 per hour working 30+ hours a week part time there back in the early 70's!

But then I had the honor of working with Ron Hines, the sports voice of Egypt!

Ron Hines was there most of the time I worked there in the mid 70's. We called him Q. He did all spots in one take, no matter how they turned out, including one for a "murniture store" in downtown Herrin. And then there were always the famous gulps in the spots..."Karr Motors, after all isn't that (gulp) their name?"
