WJRR shifts mainstream, adds no repeat workdays

The consummate 90's driven rocker has decided to invite Rush, Pink Floyd & Van Halen to the party. Not sure how well this will work overall, but as the only rock station in the region, did they have a choice? One thing's for sure, broadening the playlist does allow for the no repeat workday, which strikes me as an unnecessary gimmick.

The no repeat workday. Reminds me of when WNEW-FM was going after WXRK in New York back in the day. WXRK tried the no repeat thing too and WNEW would run a sweeper making fun of them by saying "were just shuffling around the songs we played yesterday to bring you a no repeat day today".

Didn't Mix 105.1 try that back in the 1999-2000 time frame to better compete with WMGF and WMMO.

I do remember in the mid 1990's WOMX doing what they called the 9-5 no repeat workday. When WMMO was AAA back then it was everyday is a no repeat day. In fact it would be several days before you would hear some songs repeated. I remember calling up a DJ there at night (remember those days? 24/7 live DJ's) asking for a song and he had to look it up to see if was played that day already.

About friggin time!! Now please CC expand the playlist. You can have no repeat workdays but playing the same 300 songs everyday is booooooooooooring.

Wouldn't hurt to go deep with cuts you just don't hear. I know, research and testing dictate the same 300 songs. You are the only game in town, make it sound fresh!

You mean, back in the day before they both became sister stations under CBS/Infinity and they tried hard NOT to compete with each other in morning drive with Howard Stern? :-X

You are correct. Wasn't radio life better before the telcom act of 1996 ;)

Loved the Ozzy, Don't Kill Rock n Roll tune yesterday. Don't think I'd ever heard that on any radio station before. Keep diggin JRR!
