WJRZ Said to Be Returning to Classic Hits Monday 4/22

FINALLY someone with common sense  ;D Now if only they can use their HD2 channels and use their translators to do more formats....I'd love for EDM to go on 100.7.

WJRZ did indeed re-debut as "The Greatest Hits Of The 60's, 70's & 80's" this morning ..
First song played was "Here Comes The Sun" by The Beatles ..
Last song played on "Magic" ? ..
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift ..

I got a Tom Lawler like WJRZ on Facebook today. I went to the page and it said The All New 100.1 Fm playing the greatest hits of the 60', 70's and 80's. It about time they switched back to a format that works in ocean County.

It never should have become Magic 100.1. The whole thing was a failure from the start. They couldn't bring the magic of 98.3 to 100.1.

Yep, the new web site is up too. No air staff listed, does anyone know if they retained the old staff?

Tripp Rogers, Diane DeOlivera and weekender Jasmine are out ..

Since my route is changing to New York I'll have a chance to listen more to Jersey Shore radio. I hope they have success. Sorry to read about the folks who lost their jobs. Hopefully they can find something better. Does anyone think this will be a way for the station to get better ratings? Or is this a format for the long haul to improve ratings?

Wow, that's is too bad. I just looked at their website over the weekend, it said Tripp was On The Air.

Are you saying that Keebler and Glen Kalina are still in??

I think it's time for B-B-B-J: Bring Back Big Jay & Anita too!

And while there at it, bring back the logos and visuals from the last oldies format. They are already established and recognizable (a familiar brand) and look superior to the new graphics I saw on the new website.

I don't know about Keebler, but Glenn Kalina is still there ..
However, I've heard the station will be jockless until sometime in May ..

And yes, I agree about Big Jay & Anita ..
They brought JRZ to life ..
However, they have both moved on to other things ..

Interesting to note, though, that they HAVE brought back some of the same liners they used the last time, notably at the top of the hour ..

If only they would do something with the HD signal!

A simulcast of WMMR on 100.1 HD2 would be nice.

Maybe simulcast WRAT on 100.1 HD3 to give WRAT full market coverage? That 95.9 signal is terrible in Ocean County!

WRAT has this CP now:

Effective Radiated Power 1450 Watts
Height above Avg. Terrain 146 meters (479 feet)
Height above Ground Level 153 meters (502 feet)
Height above Sea Level 157 meters (515 feet)

Did they build it yet?

I'm sure that will solve the Ocean County problem. (wink, wink) ;) ;)

When WJRZ added HD in 2007, the original intent was to offer a 50's/60's oldies mix on the HD2 to complement the main signal ..
Of course, that never happened ..
Same with WRAT .. their proposed HD2 was supposed to be a more female-leaning rock format called "Chick Rock", programmed by Rockin' Robyn, but that never happened either ..

Expect nothing less from Lesser Media. Hey, their symbol should be: <MEDIA

The tower construction is tied up in Belmar by the NIBY's. Surprise.

That's funny. I thought that it was supposed to go behind (just to the west of) a city park in South Belmar. I mean Lake Como. Although that name seems weird, as it was always S. Belmar when I was growing up there...

I had a copy of Greater Media's report to Lake Como on impact of the tower construction some years back. Seems like GM was touting the need for the new tower as a benefit not only to southern (Ocean County) coverage but also the benefit to emergency senarios based upon WRAT's role in the NJ state EAS plan.

Yeah, and "it will make the park ugly and give us all cancer".

Remember WFUV vs. The Botanical Gardens in the Bronx? That dragged on for 10 years.
