...is currently stunting with Christmas Smooth Jazz-ish music preparing for it's new 102.5 translator and format after the holidays. Its owner recently posted an job listing for a "new Adult radio station" on the WBA web site.

This 99 watt translator (I'm assuming also transmitting from the Hilton Tower, like their other translator) seems to decently cover the city of Milwaukee. It'll be interesting to see what the "Adult" format ends up being. That Hilton tower however has needed a paint job, badly, for many years now. The red and white bands are completely gone, and have been for longer than 10 years now. There's no way this tower currently passes FAA regulations (for a now unpainted tower, it does not have any day strobes, only the basic standard side markers and beacons). I guess as long as no one complains... however, the Hilton (and this possibly also includes the former Marc Plaza management) is doing, and has been doing, a pathetic job in keeping this tower painted. Those of us that maintain or have maintained broadcast towers, can only classify this tower as an eyesore. Structurally, I often wonder how it's doing these days.

Speaking of towers downtown, whatever happened to the one WNOV used to use?
I believe you're referring to the tower that stood on the building at the NE corner of Water St. & Wisconsin Ave. If that's the one, it's been gone for decades. What once was for many years a bank building at that location, is now the Drury Plaza Hotel. The 37 story 100 East building across the street, which went up between 1987 - 1989, blocked signal from the WNOV tower. Thinking back, I believe WNOV tried to sue regarding air rights, but I don't know what the outcome was (was there an out of court settlement?). Either way, the tower was dismantled at some point.

Any idea what the "more" is? Smooth jazz seems to me like an odd choice, a dated format, hot at one time, but not in the Milwaukee market, nor in many others, for years.
