WJTK 96.5

I see where WJTK is looking for an ops manager. What happened to Bill Madden? They go through employees alot over there. I dont see how that station stays on the air, they dont make no money. ???

WJTK is part of a cluster, sort of. The Newman family owns Mix94.5 and WDSR-AM. WJTK is on the WDSR tower, so it has very low overhead. I've heard local spots on the station, so I assume it must be making some money, though I'm sure the bad economy has hurt.

Bill Madden is still at the 96.5 The Jet. He is doing sales and is one half of the host of North Florida Today that also runs on the Jet alongside Nicole Back. Also to note that The Jet finally added in Rush Limbaugh to its lineup starting today after trying to get him on the station since the start of The Jet. I know Bill a little bit from some things I have done around here in Lake City. I don't think he is going away anytime soon.

All I know is that 96.5 is now one of the noisiest frequencies in Gainesvllle. It's a nasty mix of WJTK, WHTQ/Orlando, and (when it's up and running) the LPFM in McIntosh.

Well, it's a class A, intended for local broadcasting only. Normal range for a Class A is about 15 miles, so the 40 to Gainesville is a bit of a stretch.
